Xijing Xu is a Berlin-based designer from China, with a background in product and industrial design, passionate about food-related topics.
As a food designer, she often begins her work with an exploration of specific food material or ingredient, intending to reflect on the relationship among people and food in the process of cooking and eating. She helped develop “ChiTofu”, an Interdisciplinary Experimental Food Design Program in Hangzhou, China and participated in the planning of several food events. Food as a medium is the interface where she integrates design into traditional culture and contemporary life.
As a product designer, she is skilled in multiple design tool. She gathered knowledge and practices of different materials in both manufacture and handwork through the project development process. These skills and experiences broaden the boundaries of her creativity. Working as a designer gives her the possibility to access different input from meeting with people from various fields and backgrounds.
